Brad Ross Takes Centenary Stage Again

After a sold out performance last year, the Merlin Award Winner for “Best International Family Entertainer” returns to the Centenary Stage. The Illusionary Magic of Brad Ross is back with some brand new tricks on Sunday, April 13 at 2 p.m. in the Lackland Center.

This International Star Illusionist combines magic, illusion, theatricality, comedy and fun into a family friendly experience for kids, parents and grandparents.

Ross has made more than 500 television appearances, with ABC television hailing him as the “Illusionist Extraordinaire,” and has impressed talk-show host Rosie O’Donnell, who exclaimed, “Brad Ross, you rock.”

Mr. Ross is also the founder of New Jersey’s local chapter of Project Magic, a charity program started by David Copperfield.

The International Magicians’ Society recognized Ross with the “Oscar of the magic industry,” the Merlin Award, for his work entertaining children and their families the world over.

Tickets for the Family Fun Series’ shows range from $17.50 to $20 in advance and $22.50 to $25 on the day of. Workshops are available for an additional $18.50 a person, limit of 50 people.

Magician Brad Ross Went to Prom with Academy Award Winner Anne Hathaway

Inside Magic Image of anne hathaway and brad rossWe subscribe to Magician Brad Ross’ newsletter and appreciate his great tips and methods for getting paying shows.  One of his strengths is his ability to write as if he knows the recipient personally.

The second is a bona fide success in our business and thus knows of what he speaks.

During the Academy Awards Sunday evening, we received a tweet from Mr. Ross that read “My Prom Date Just Won an Oscar®!”

We did not know whether to believe him.

He had never lied to us but we found it hard to believe that his prom date was famed director Ang Lee.

We were pretty sure Mr. Lee was much older than the young Mr. Ross and didn’t go to school in New Jersey.

It took a few commercial breaks before we figured it out.

His prom date was the beautiful and talented Anne Hathaway (whom he called “Annie Hathaway”).

We saw Les Misérables and thought her performance was one of the best ever captured on film.  We sob at the mere hint of any melody from the musical but when Ms. Hathaway sang as noble but broken grisette, Fantine, we became inconsolable.

Magician Brad Ross Practices What He Teaches

Inside Magic Image of Brad RossMagician Brad Ross is unique in our book.  Granted, our book is itself unique and difficult to read due and questionable images, but Brad Ross is unique nonetheless.

He is a young man with the maturity of someone our age would be assumed to possess.  He is also one of the few active, working performers to offer a course on how to improve bookings and gain positive attention who actually appears to have great bookings and very positive press.

Today’s article in the Daily Record (NJ) proves our point.

Mr. Ross will be performing this weekend at the beautiful David and Carol Lackland Center at Centenary College in Hackettstown, New Jersey.   His performance is part of the theater’s Family Fun Series and set for 2:00 pm this Sunday, January 20th.

The show was originally set for November 20th, last year but Hurricane Sandy intervened.

“I got the magic bug that early,” Mr. Ross told the reporters. “I knew right away that was what I wanted to do.”

He was not able (or not willing) to overcome the magic bug’s influence on his life and now at 28, he is a veteran of the stage, screen and the Disney Live tour.

Does he enjoy it still?  “I wake up each day loving what I do,” he says. “I’ve never had a career outside of magic.”  Perhaps that is the key to his success — that and abundant talent.

“I’ve performed on five continents and in 16 languages,” says Ross. “The biggest thing I’ve learned is that you have to roll with the punches. Anything can happen live.”
