The Magic Calendar – Dorothy and John Do It Again

A Calendar for the Rest of Us

Great News from Dorothy Dietrich and Dick Brooks (“John Bravo”).

Frankly, we don’t know when they sleep.  The dynamic couple of magic not only run, present, and curate (is that a word?) the events at the World Famous Houdini Museum in Scranton, PA, present one of the top-rated S?ance experiences, a full-evening show, Haunted!

Plus, this charming twosome writes back and answers every one of our inane questions.

We learned about their latest project – The Magic Calendar.

“Oh, so what?” you may ask with a yawn.  “There are other magic calendars out there.”

Well, we’ll tell you so what.  And cover your mouth when you yawn, that’s disgusting.

Unlike the calendars you’ve seen on-line or in the magic magazines, this one actually includes listings from real magicians — magicians like all of us.  We’re not famous so we’ll never be listed on the various “special” magic calendars.

We’ve never been an insider and can’t brown nose with sufficient vigor to be let into the inner-sanctum.  Perhaps that’s okay.  We’re not bitter.

[Although former Li’l Tom Hardy road manager Paw Lawton was clearly a bitter man when he wrote his guest-essay, Sorry I’m Not One of the Inner-Circle.  You can still read it at Quinlan’s Inside Magic.]

We still have our self-respect.

Back to our story.  This Magic Calendar is different than the rest.  It is a calendar for the rest of us — all of us!

Mr. Brooks told us The Magic Calendar has a different philosophy.  “It is not just for big events or friends only.  There is even an ability to up load entire pages. They can even be in HTML.”

We love the way it is set up.  There are sub-calendars for different types of offerings.

Viz.

  1. The USA Convention & Lecture Calendar Page;
  2. The USA Theater Calendar Page;
  3. The USA Cabaret Calendar Page;
  4. The Las Vegas/Reno Calendar Page;
  5. The Non-USA Mainland Convention & Lecture Calendar Page;
  6. The Non-USA Mainland Theater Calendar Page; and,
  7. The Non-Mainland USA Cabaret Calendar Page.

By our count, that is seven calendars within The Magic Calendar. …

Like everything they do, Ms. Dietrich and Mr. Brooks have put together an outstanding resource for all of us.  You’ll need to get a free password to upload your schedule and details by addressing an email as instructed at The Magic Calendar.

Thank you so much to Ms. Dietrich and Mr. Brooks for all they do to make magic’s history, present, and future available to all.

Read our review of their Houdini Museum as posted at Quinlan’s Inside Magic this summer.

Mr. Brooks writes the site “is open to all conjuring events, but no others.  Magicians can list your events free, including pictures and a full page of information.”

This is a great place for people like us.  You have the drawing power of one of the best magic domains on the web, http://www.houdini.org, offering you free real estate.

We don’t know how Ms. Dietrich and Mr. Brooks do it, but we sure are glad they do.
