Psychic Woman

Angelo Stagnaro is more than just a great guy and a great mentalist and a
great writer — he is also prolific.

We have been misquoted on one of the magic bulletin boards as saying, "If you
do not read Angelo
Stagnaro's Smoke and Mirrors
newsletter you should be jailed." We do not
deny the sentiment, however.

Mr. Stagnaro's Smoke and Mirrors puts our rags to
shame-and-a-half. If you are not signed-up now, you can remedy that which some
think should be a criminal offense by heading here.

But let us not strike around the shrub. Mr. Stagnaro's current offerings
deserve your attention if you are a professional (or serious semi-professional)
mentalist or considering using mentalism in your act.

The Psi-Book Series is exactly the type of material you hope to
receive when you purchase a magic book — the inner-workings of professional
routines.

Volume One: Conspiracy

(Available in German and English)

His incredible first volume Conspiracy: A Guide for Mentalist Partners
is practical, useful and not previously revealed methods of "partnered codes and
other secret arrangements between a mentalist and his confederate."

There are more than a hundred effects described and taught in the text and
wonderful photographs to help you learn professional methods to perform
two-person telepathy. Mr. Stagnaro also includes a collection of mentalist
patter terms, a collection of cold reading one-liners and an extensive mentalism
bibliography.

While our endorsement no doubt carries tremendous weight in the eyes of many,
it also has the imprimatur of Larry Becker — the author of the book's foreword.

You can pick up a copy of this volume through H&R Books. If you are
looking for the German version, check out Manipulix Publishers.

H&R Books can be found at: http://www.magicbookshop.com

Volume Two: Something from Nothing: A Guide to Cold
Reading

(Available in German, Spanish, and English).

Like Ian Rowland's outstanding treatise, The Full Facts Book of Cold
Reading
, Mr. Stagnaro's book gives you the inside skinny on one of the more
difficult talents to acquire. (You can read our review of Mr. Rowland's great
book at Quinlan's Inside
Magic
).

While the work does include about 40 effects, the interested reader is likely
looking for information on the basic techniques, outs, body language, psychology
forces and other skills. Mr. Stagnaro does not disappoint.

He spends considerable time exploring the practical, real-world work needed
to take a stage with nothing but your wit and charm; and yet be ready to read
thoughts, predict outcomes, influence choices.

This is the real skinny (as we used to say to Kate Moss and Lindsay Lohan —
but not while either was driving).

The cost of this lesson in just under $50.00 USD and can be purchased from
George Robinson, Jr. at his incredible Viking Mfg. and Collectors' Workshop. You
can purchase the German version from Zauberhandlung Manipulix Publishers.

Ted Lesley wrote the foreword for this volume. That is enough for us.

Volume Three: The Other Side: A Guide to Theatrical
Séances & Mediumistic Effects
.

(Available in German and
English).

With over 90 effects and about 100 photos, this labor of love will walk you
through all you need to know about performing a theatrical seance. You also
receive a glossary of mentalist patter terms and an extensive mentalism
bibliography. The foreword was written by the late Mike Bornstein.

Mr. Stagnaro draws upon his real-world experience to teach "cold reading,
ventriloquism, hypnotism, stealth, black art techniques, psychic and paranormal
experiments, the art of storytelling, scripting, palmistry, the art of
deception, acting skills and theatrecraft."

But he also takes the reader/student through the pre-seance and post-seance
routines needed to build and sustain the desired theatrical effect. Perhaps you
have been reluctant to consider adding a theatrical seance routine because it
seems anachronistic. Mr. Stagnaro describes one of the best methods of bringing
the traditional Victorian seance into a show for today's audiences.

Mr. Stagnaro includes a sample séance director's script, a sample cold
reading, a large glossary of mentalist patter terms, a collection of cold
reading one-liners and an extensive mentalism bibliography.

You can purchase this work from Manipulix
Publishers
.

Conclusion: So Much More to Come

We think the world of Mr. Stagnaro and his ability to teach so effectively
those methods previously held secret by a few professionals.

And, while we never did suggest non-readers of Smoke & Mirrors should be
incarcerated, we do think the newsletter is a must for those serious about
magic.

We have only gone through three of the five books in the Psi-Book Series; and
haven't even mentioned his incredible The Phenomena Deck. We'll get to these
items in the weeks ahead. As we said, Mr. Stagnaro is prolific.
