One of the most underrated magicians of our era, Darren Romeo, has moved his show from Mississippi back to Nevada to take over the Eldorado Showroom in downtown Reno.
Mr. Romeo, a good friend to us here at Inside Magic, has what it takes to make it back to Vegas and participate in the Magic of the Strip. He will be performing in the outstanding Voice of Magic show that brings together his talented singing voice, great stage presence, energy and outstanding magic skills until February 27th.
Mr. Romeo has performed magic since nine and worked in the longest running off-Broadway musical, “The Fantastics” before Siegfried & Roy (winners of the 2004 Inside Magic Magicians of the Year Award) discovered him.
The Duo brought Mr. Romeo to their home stage in the Mirage for a critically acclaimed but too short run as an afternoon show.
Mr. Romeo’s show at the Mirage was outstanding. He showed an appreciation for the great effects and great magicians in our Art’s history; his singing and the show’s staging brought the classic effects into the modern era.
Perhaps because there are no other singing magicians (or magicians who can sing with the talent Mr. Romeo possesses), his show received mixed reviews among the magic press. While the public enjoyed the matinee performances, it became almost “cool” to dismiss Mr. Romeo’s hard work and flawless combination of music and magic. That was a shame. His durability and continued success throughout his many significant runs around the country testify to his abilities and his status as one of our stars.
Inside Magic reviewed Mr. Romeo’s show when he appeared in the Siegfried & Roy Theater. We found it then, as we expect it to be now, to be almost flawless. He clearly understood the risk of trying something new but was willing to accept that risk to make his mark in the business.
We sat behind Siegfried at the matinee and enjoyed seeing his enthusiasm for his prot?g?e’s performance. At one point in the show, Mr. Romeo vanished…

We sat behind Siegfried at the matinee and enjoyed seeing his enthusiasm for his prot?g?e’s performance. At one point in the show, Mr. Romeo vanished and instantaneously re-appeared in the audience. As he ran back towards the stage, his path took him past Siegfried’s booth. The elder magician slid toward the front of the booth to exchange a high-five with Mr. Romeo. Both magicians present (and surely Roy as well) understood the financial implications of launching this venture but they seemed too excited to be concerned that it might not work.
Siegfried told reporters, ?The Show is a roller coaster of powerful magic and breathtaking music,? explained Siegfried. ?Darren brings personality, charm, romanticism, and youth to each show, combined with the most powerful universal languages ? music and magic.?
Tickets for Siegfried & Roy Present the Voice of Magic: Darren Romeo are $26.00 and $31.00. You can learn about ticket availability and the show times by clicking here.
You should not miss Mr. Romeo’s show.
Congratulations to Siegfried & Roy as well as Mr. Romeo and his very talented troupe!
