Pendragons Go For It At The Z

New Bedford?s Zeiterion Theater was once a Vaudeville theater and later a movie palace.  In 1956, John Huston used the facilities to premier Moby Dick starring Gregory Peck.  This Friday, October 29th, it will also be the site of Jonathan and Charlotte Pendragon?s attempt to out-do their World Record for Fastest Performance of the Metamorphosis.

The magic couple is currently the certified Guinness World Record holder for the fastest magicians.  The 2005 edition, available in your bookstores now, writes that the Pendragons “perform the fastest transformation illusion in the world. In their presentation of Houdini’s ‘Metamorphosis’ illusion, Charlotte conceals herself behind a curtain and just 0.25 seconds later it is thrown aside by Jonathan.”

“They do it so fast, they would have fooled Houdini,” states Paul Kieve, magic consultant for Guinness World Records.  Now, we are content to rest on our laurels having tied the North American Record for longest burning cigarette in a thumb-filled thumb tip.  But the Pendragons are different.

“We challenge ourselves at every performance to break the Guinness record,” says Charlotte. “We succeed most of the time.”

The Pendragons have entertained audiences in theaters and on television in more than 50 countries and have won the Magician of the Year award twice as well as a performing fellowship from Hollywood’s Magic Castle.
