Dorothy Dietrich and The Houdini Museumis featured in a new promotional guide called “Fun with the Family in Pennsylvania.” The guide is designed for families seeking fun in Pennsylvania ? and so it is appropriately named.
The guide gives all you need to know for hundreds of day trips in the Keystone state. The guide describesthe Houdini Museum in Scranton, as a “must-see for budding magicians,” that “brings back the Vaudeville era, when traveling performers such as Houdini frequently visited the Scranton area.”
Ms. Dietrich and John Bravo serve on the board of directors for the museum and are two of the magicians that perform for the crowds that visit the site each day.
Mr. Bravo has performed for Brooke Shields, David Copperfield and others gaining him the title of Magician to the Stars. He was the owner and publisher of Hocus Pocus Magic Magazine as well as the owner of the famous New York City?s Magic Towne House.
Ms. Dietrich has performed some of the more impressive effects in our Art and earned the title ?The Female Houdini? for her suspended straight jacket escapes and fearless presentation of the Bullet Catching Trick. The latter effect was responsible for the death of 12 magicians and is one of the few tricks Houdini would not perform.

If you have never visited the museum?s website, do yourself a favor and check it out right now. I have to warn you, though, it is addictive. You?ll start out exploring the links associated with the museum, and soon you?re learning about the history of Mr. Bravo and Ms. Dietrich, and then following the hyperlinks through Houdini?s performances in the Scranton/Pocono area.
At this point you know you have to leave the site and get on with your life but you won?t be able to leave. You?ll find more links and more areas that will suck you in like Al Pacino in The Godfather III. Unlike The Godfather III, however, you?ll find satisfaction for your time spent watching the pages unfold on the museum website.

Dorothy Performs Bullet Catching at Resorts International |
One of the resonating themes of Inside Magic is that our Art is wonderful and unique. Magicians can be occasionally harsh in their criticism of fellow magicians but at the end of the day, we stick together and are members of one of the most collegial professions in the world. To wander through the Houdini Museum in person or through its webpage is to see what makes Magic so attractive and special.
The Houdini Museum has also been featured on The Discovery Channel Networkand in one of the Magic Road Trip segments filmed for the Travel Channel, Ms. Dietrich performs the straight-jacket escape for a very excited audience of museum-goers.
Ms. Dietrich and Mr. Bravo have contributed so much to a task we all enjoy, keeping our history alive. Their dedication to preserving Houdini?s memory through exhibits and shows is evident in every link on their expansive website. We?re blessed to have people of their caliber taking the time needed do this important work.
We?ll put theMuseum up on the Inside Magic Links of Fame and hope you?ll visit them, take part in their project by becoming a member and joining their mailing list.
