Magic Fest Revived in Ft. Collins

The Great Lewdini

There
is a very inspiring article in the Fort Collins Coloradoan about how
local magicians fought (politely) to keep alive a three-day magic
festival in that tourist town called ?Magic in the
Rockies.?

The main tourism folks in Fort Collins looked at the event as a great time and saw that it fit nicely as an event to follow Labor Day ? when tourism drops off.

Lew
Wymisner (aka The Great Lewdini) and Ed Hurtubis (aka Mr. Magic) were
doing the heavy lifting of organizing the event and were ready for a
change. The local IBM Ring took over the project last year and despite increasing attendance, netted just $97.00. That?s less than $100 dollars.

The
town leaders recognized the value of the event as a tourist draw and
encouraged Lew Wymisner (aka The Great Lewdini) and Ed Hurtubis (aka
Mr. Magic), to run the event again this year.

Lew
and Ed hesitated and the town leaders put together a plan that took
care of all the small details and legwork and allowed Lew and Ed to do
what they do best: entertain.

It
benefits the town by keeping the hotel rooms filled and it clearly
benefits the magicians of the area who get to perform and mingle during
the three-day event.

Interestingly, the event is covered by the Marriott Hotel Company’s
internal news clipsheet as well. Considering the majority of the
stories on the company’s clipsheet deal with the horrible bombing in
Jakarta, Marriott must view this a very positive story to tell its
employees around the world.
