Landon Swank |
Landon Swank hadn’t seen another magician until about two or three months ago.And now, he is just days away from competing in one of the most prestigious stage contests in the world.
Swank was introduced to magic at seven when he was called from the audience to assist Harry Blackstone, Jr. on stage. He was nervous, scared and decided to leave the stage. Blackstone produced a rabbit from his coat and gave it to the young man.
Eleven years later, Swank perfected his competition performance video, submitted it to the judges at the World Magic Seminar and was accepted as a contestant. That’s quite an honor in itself.
He has an interest in performing manipulation effects. In fact, he’ll feature canes and balls in his competition routine. He has been practicing between four and ten hours each day to ready himself for the contest.
When asked to compare himself to other magicians, he told the local paper, “I’ve always been told to just be myself and not to try to match your act to someone else’s. It’s harder to succeed doing that,” Swank said. “In terms of magic skills, I really like Lance Burton. And I like David Copperfield’s grand illusions.”
It is incredible that this young man could produce an act of such high caliber without the support of other magicians. Fortunately, at the World Magic Seminar, he’ll have a chance to meet many magicians; and they’ll of course have an opportunity to meet Landon.
