Every Magician .Com & Melanie Kerr – New & Old Interests

We were just reading this month’s Magic Magazine and saw two adverts of import.

The first is one we’ve watched for the last four years without fail, Melanie Kerr’s attractive and intriguing banner for her site, MK Magic.  More about that in a second.  We also noticed an advertisement for Every Magician .Com.

Not more than a few minutes after completing our perusal of Stan Allen’s great periodical, we received an email from the man behind Every Magician .Com, Bram Charles.

What are the odds? Don’t know, no clue, couldn’t tell you.  Interestingly, we asked a consultant for one of the big casinos about this and he said, "fifty-fifty, either it would happen or it wouldn’t."

We don’t put much stock in this type of analysis. Plus, almost none of the modern-day casinos will take our action on this type of "prop bet."

Vegas has changed so much from the days when we actually lost a month’s pay on what now seems to be a bad bet: we wagered that the casino wouldn’t take our action on a bet whether it would take our action.

They took the bet and we lost.  We should have seen it coming.

Here’s what we heard from Every Magician .Com.  Check out the site and consider whether you could benefit from the services they offer.

Simply reply back to us if you’re interested in a particular show with how much you want to receive for the gig, and if our client selects your submission,we put the two of you together.

You always get the fee you bid.  In some cases (mostly shows where the fee is under $500) you call the client to confirm, you do the show, and you even collect the money from the client directly, and then send us a commission.

Other times we will pay you directly.  Our commission structure is mutually beneficial in that the commission percentage actually decreases as the show fee increases!

You can choose and filter which show leads you want to receive in your email, by what categories you wish your listing to be associated with in the Directory.

For example ? if you only want to receive show leads for close up magic and trade shows in New York and New Jersey, you can!

If you want to receive show leads for Los Angeles and Las Vegas ? you can!We pay for advertising with a number of websites including Google to get as many people to the site to see your listing.

By advertising with us, you’ll get better results at a cheaper cost (it’s even tax deductible!).

So what are you waiting for? Book more shows. Make more money. Find out why we’re the fastestgrowing and largest agency for Magicians in North America.  Submit a listing today!

Sincerely,

EveryMagician.com

The site is slick and well-organized.  Check it out and see if it fits your needs or your future clients’ needs. We’re intrigued and looking forward to putting our listing in play.

Please make sure you check with your tax professional to determine whether advertising fees will be tax-deductible.

Melanie Kerr’s Current Banner – Looking Towards 2000

Speaking of intriguing: we wrote about Melanie Kerr in this article and in many other articles in the past.  We have no idea what Mr. Allen charges for the 1/8-page ad she runs every month in Magic Magazine.

It is a beautiful, full-color insert — although it is now substantially smaller than the full-page version she used to run.

We have no problem with Ms. Kerr’s ad buy.  We have tried hard over the years to learn more about her and her work.  But the MK Magic Mystery has continued without any substantial change since we first observed her site.

The articles have not changed in years, you cannot subscribe to the Melanie Kerr fan-club (we’ve tried both the premium and regular memberships, even with valid credit cards, but to no avail.), and there are script errors in the programming that indicate the underlying files have not been opened or checked in years.

Ah, as we say at our $25.00 a day full-time job as an allergy test subject, there’s the rub.  Why does she continue to pay monthly for her advertisement for a site that is virtually defunct and forgotten?

We love her splash page programmed in Macromedia’s Flash script.  We just hope she’s alright.   We care about her and not just because she’s beautiful and aloof.
