Politician Proud Owner of S.S. Adams

The Selectman from Oxford, Connecticut, David Haversat is featured in the local paper today but not for his work as one of the youngest elected officials.

Mr. Haversat is known so many magicians as the author of Chanin-The Man with the Magic Hands and inventor of several effects, including Bleeding Heart.  But there is still more to know about this young man.  He is half owner of the famous S.S. Adams Co.

Mr. Haversat went 50-50 with Chris Adams, a relative of the late S.S. Adams, in the purchase and current management of the iconic company.  They purchased the company in 2002 and have kept the manufacturing operations in the United States ? more specifically, in Neptune, New Jersey.

Mr. Haversat describes himself as a salesman and inventor for the company.  He applies his life-long commitment to the study and performance of magic to his new role.  Like all of us, he was entranced or entrapped by magic tricks from S.S. Adams as a child.

Thanks to the company’s long tenure in the same location, Haversat is able to continue the manufacturing in the United States rather than outsourcing it and the accompanying jobs to China.  One Adams vendor told reporters that if the company were to begin in today’s market, it would be forced to manufacture in China.

Mr. Haversat sold his prized possession to raise the money necessary to purchase the company.  He hated to sell the original Houdini straightjacket but presumably would have hated to miss the chance to buy S.S. Adams.
