Magician Gopinath Muthukad Kicks It in Delhi

The Man: Gopinath Muthukad

We have reported about Magician Gopinath Muthukad?s work to use our Art to spread Gandhian Principles throughout India.  Today he brought his show and teachings to Delhi.

Mr. Muthukad?s worldwide `Gandhi Mantra’ tour, will end early next year in Johannesburg but before he is done, the 25-member team will have performed for Prime Ministers and commoners.  Titled ‘Illusion India’, the two-hour show was a demonstration of using magic as a medium to propagate Gandhian principles through the medium of entertainment.

“At a time when virtues and morality in public life are on the decline, there is a need to remember and reiterate the message of Gandhiji,” Mr. Muthukad believes the mix of the “enduring appeal of magic” and “the Mahatma’s message” fits the Gandhian ideal.”

Mr. Muthukad has been active in magic for 30 years and urges the Indian government to propagate magic as an art form. “Magic is a good tool for national integration. There is no language barrier in magic.”

More than an one-trick pony, Mr. Muthukad began ?Vande Mataram,? a mission to disseminate Gandhian principles in India through magic.

We?ll keep you up-to-date on the tour as it progresses and Mr. Muthukad?s continued efforts to bridge international relations with our Art.

Check out Mr. Muthukad?s very cool website by clicking here.  We love it not only because the form fits the function…
