Oz Pearlman’s TranspOzition Gets Highest Marks

Any Deck Any Time – Incredible

The neat thing about this effect is the visual manner in which the cards instantly change places. Four blank cards are fairly shown and set on the table face down. Four face cards are counted and with a wave of the hand, they instantly turn blank and the blank cards are turned over to show that they have now turned to the four face cards. No cards are added or taken away. It looks like real magic.

One of the advantages of buying magic over the web is that no one knows you did it. I mean, the kind folks at Penguin Magic could search their database and find that someone with my id ordered TranspOzition but they?d have to do some looking. On the other hand, if you used the same money to buy a 3-day pass to a site that showed real pizza delivery girls delivering real pizza to people who really ordered pizza, you?d likely be busted by some sort of Internet sting-operation.

You?d be shamed from the proper circles of society, your name would be put on the blacklist at all pizza outlets, puppets would call you ?mommy? and try to snuggle with you while you sleep on a bus terminal bench. I don?t know if you?d really get blacklisted at pizza outlets, I was just being dramatic.

So, back to the review.

Let?s talk technical for a second. I like the instant download as a method of teaching me magic. I like the idea that I can rewind the video instructions over and over until I learn what I need to know. And in the case of TranspOzition, I needed the instructional video to be replayed often.

Let?s talk technical for a second. I like the instant download as a method of teaching me magic. I like the idea that I can rewind the video instructions over and over until I learn what I need to know. And in the case of TranspOzition, I needed the instructional video to be replayed often. There are four or five moves that need to be learned and performed in smooth procession to make the trick work.

Instant is Good for Pizza and Magic

So, if you want to do the miracle you see in the demo video at the Penguin Magic website, you have to be willing to practice. In a phrase, you have to be willing to let go of the comfortable to do the impossible.

I?m no slouch when it comes to cards. I can second deal, one-hand shuffle (right or left hand), double reverse fan cut and Tenkai palm. But even I, with my complete mastery over four sleights that I have been doing since I was 12, had to learn a couple of new ones. I didn?t want to learn new ones. I wanted to keep with my same four sleights and do my same 12 tricks that are based entirely on those four sleights. But I watched the demo video again and said, ?Dang!?

I realized I would have to let go of my comfortable world to enter a new world where some practice and work would be required. I resisted. I could just make gimmicked cards that would do it all ? but that wouldn?t allow me to do the effect with any borrowed deck. I thought about doing a series of three deck switches ? but that would require me to bring as many different decks as could be offered by an audience member. I was going to have to learn some new moves.

The video made the method behind the moves easy to learn. That doesn?t mean that I could do the effect perfectly on my first try. Unlike the Ball Vase or Penetration Frame, this effect would require me to stand or sit or, finally, lie on the floor, in front of a mirror to practice. But it was worth it.

Do I think TranspOzition is for everyone? Do I think anyone could master the sleights demonstrated and thoroughly taught? Do I think rhetorical questions are annoying? Do you think the pizzas that are being delivered are exactly what the people ordering the pizzas wanted?

I Love Pizza But I Love This Trick More

I think you would have to have some confidence in handling cards. You don?t have to be as accomplished as Joshua Jay or Daryl but you would have to feel comfortable working with cards in a routine. If you have done nothing to this point other than self-working card tricks, this might not be the one for you. On the other hand, if you can do a buckle, an Elmsley count and a real basic palm, you should be fine.

The reward for giving up your comfort zone and learning this outstanding trick is the effect it will have on your audience. It looks impossible.
